Place a window on the GIF. GIF Crate crops or pads every frame in this browser, and the file stays on your device.

Controls
A banner wants a wide GIF. A story wants a tall one. A post wants a square. GIF Crate is the browser toolbox for those jobs. On this page you set a new frame, crop into the animation, or add space around it, then save. The motion stays. The file stays on your device.
The same tool also lives at GIF Resizer.
Pull the frame inside the picture to trim every frame the same way. Let it hang past the picture and the extra room is yours to fill: clear, or a color that suits the layout. Wide, tall, or square, you pick the shape. Nothing here squashes the GIF to force the fit.
Three steps, from the file on your device to a GIF you can post. No account, no install, no watermark.
01
Open a GIF
Drop it on the page, pick a file, paste from the clipboard, or paste a public link. GIF Crate accepts GIFs. The picture you open from this device is not uploaded.
02
Choose the new shape
Drag the frame until the GIF fits, or type the width and height you need. Crop in for a tighter shot. Add space for a banner, a story, or a square. If you add space, leave it clear or give it a color. A zoom control can make the saved GIF larger or smaller.
03
Save it
Download keeps a copy for you to post or send. Apply leaves the new GIF on the page when you want another pass. Every frame follows the frame you set, so the animation still plays.
The usual reason to resize a GIF is a slot that does not match the file. These are the jobs this page is for.
Banners and headers
Channel art and page headers are wide. Add room on the left and right so the animation sits in the middle of a banner, instead of rebuilding it.
Stories and tall posts
A story frame is tall. Give the GIF space above and below, or crop it to a vertical cut, and keep the motion that made it worth posting.
Squares for a feed
Profile posts and thumbnails often want a square. Crop to that shape so the subject stays put and the loop still reads at a small size.
A cleaner edge
Trim a stray border, empty margin, or leftover background. The same cut applies to every frame, so the animation does not jump.
The sketch below is not your file. The pale block is the GIF, and it keeps the same shape on every card. What changes is the room around it.
The wider card is a banner: space on the left and right. The taller card is a story: space above and below. That space can stay clear or take a color. To trim instead, drag the frame inside the picture. Every frame loses the same edge, and the animation is not squashed to fit.
The animation stays together
One frame for the whole GIF. You are not cropping frame one by hand and hoping the rest match. The loop keeps its order.
The picture is not squashed
A new shape comes from a crop or from space around the GIF. The picture itself is not pulled wider or taller to fake the fit.
Free, and it stays with you
No account and no watermark. Open a GIF, resize it, and download it in the browser. A link you paste is loaded so you can work, and it is not kept.
One toolbox, this tool first
GIF Crate is a set of GIF tools. The one on this page resizes an animated GIF. It is ready to use above, with nothing else to install.
